Interactive Games

The media interactive lab presents IncreTable this is a tabletop game inspired by the Incredible Machine.

After we had created our interactive water piece, we thought about taking it further and started to look at maybe creating an interactive game.

Visual of Installation

The above two images show how the projection will work around the Creative Arts Building.

Image on the top is the main entrance for this building and referring back to our brief, on opening evenings, other students and their parents would walk across this installation and see what it does.

Image on the bottom has been taking on 2nd floor by the staircase. So whether students/parents are walking towards the lift, 2nd floor or the staircase they will walk across this installation and see what it does.

Our Theme

This is going to be our background theme for this project.

From our presentation feedback, our visual representations were weak. Therefore, we have designed this as our background theme.

So far so good......

Since our last presentation our project has changed in various ways:
  • A coded ripple effect has been achieved, but will most likly be improved further.
  • Although abit slow and jumpy, the webcam is able to track movements.
  • The sensors were changed for a playstation itoy which is ready made for motion capture.
  • sucessfully connected 2 mac's and 2 audino boards, one mac for processing the movements while the other visualises the data sent through.

Next we need a location to test a person/s walking under the itoy, and also a way of securing the itoy above an area.

  • need to find a usb extension

Networking Computers

These are the arduino boards we now have working.
One computer is used to take in the coordinates of the movement past the webcam and the other is used to display the visualizations.
The arduino boards are used to connect the two computers together.
It works by the first computer sending out the set of coordinates to the board, and the other board receiving them and sending them to the other computer.
